Beware of Imitations - Code Compliance

The Ischebeck Titan injection anchor / self drilling micropile has been extensively used throughout the world, but the specifier and user should be aware that there are competing products, some of which are not code compliant.

Special care should be taken to ensure code compliance, as the possible failures could lead to serious consequences, or fatalities.

Ischebeck Titan fully complies with the suite of relevant BS EN codes which are applicable within New Zealand, namely,
BS EN 114199 2005 Micropiles
BS EN 14490 2010 Soil Nails

Ischebeck Titan has the German National Technical Approval Z-34.14-209, applicable through to May 2018.

The steel quality is that for reinforced concrete, and be in accordance with BS EN 10080, and Eurocode EC2.

Reference to Table C1 and C2H in Eurocode EC2 the relevant steel qualities are summarised.

  • Yield strength must be between 400 and 600MPa.
  • Ductility requirements are defined.
  • Bend/rebend test are required.
  • Shear bond limits are provided.

With regard to shear bond it is noted that rope threads are non-compliant. Ischebeck Titan steel has a Charpy impact bending resistance of > 80 Joules, hence the steel is suitable for the drilling operation.
